ASABA Community Upliftment
ASABA Community Upliftment Programme
This programme, created in 2015, will use the financial training and expertise of ASABA’s current members to uplift disadvantaged South African communities and realise the association’s goal of transforming South African society in general. It was started to address the need from other associations, like the Burial Societies of SA and PSL, to receive technical assistance and advice from ASABA. This further strengthened the relationship between the associations and enabled ASABA to become proactive in using the association’s skills and resources for the greater good.
The 3 main areas of activity are:
- Outreach programmes e.g. financial literacy workshops.
- Building relationships with other organisations. ASABA has a partnered with Actuaries Without Frontiers to jointly support each other’s projects. We recently assisted, FinMark Trust, a key supporter and driver for financial inclusion in the SADC region with research work.
- Promote awareness and involvement in initiatives for financial inclusion that are relevant to the actuarial profession including organising speakers like Dr Ramsamy, CEO of Finmark Trust talk.
